<p>Ex-Seton Hall point guard <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///ncaab/players/88725" href="https://www.thescore.com/ncaab/players/88725">Kadary Richmond</a> will transfer to St. John's for his fifth season of college basketball, he told <a href="https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/40101374/kadary-richmond-transfers-seton-hall-st-johns">ESPN's Jonathan Givony and Jeff Borzello</a> on Tuesday.</p><p>Richmond said Red Storm head coach Rick Pitino and his staff were a driving force in his decision.</p><p>"They are going to allow me to showcase my ability and become a better basketball player and person," Richmond said.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>The No. 1 transfer in <a href="https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/insider/story/_/id/39762970/mens-college-basketball-transfer-rankings-2024-25-season">ESPN</a>'s rankings reportedly also considered Oklahoma, Syracuse, Miami, and USC.</p><p>Richmond was named to the All-Big East first team during his senior season with the Pirates, averaging 15.7 points, 5.1 assists, and seven rebounds.</p><p>The 6-foot-6 guard spent his freshman year at Syracuse before joining Seton Hall in 2021-22. </p><p>St. John's has already received commitments from two highly touted transfers: former USC center <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///ncaab/players/103250" href="https://www.thescore.com/ncaab/players/103250">Vincent Iwuchukwu</a> and Utah point guard Deivon Smith.</p><p>The Red Storm are entering their second year with Pitino at the helm. St. John's narrowly missed the 2024 NCAA Tournament after a 20-13 record and a fifth-place finish in the Big East. St. John's hasn't qualified for the NCAA tourney since 2019.</p>

The 6-foot-7 small forward was drafted ninth overall by the New York Knicks in 2018.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>When Karter committed to the Wildcats in March, he made it clear he wanted to play for Calipari.
