The Ottawa RedBlacks have retained the services of former All-Star defensive back Jerrell Gavins.
The two sides came to an agreement on a one-year contract extension, the team announced Monday. Gavins was due to become a free agent at 12 PM on Tuesday.
"Jerrell has been an important part of our team since day one and we're happy to have him back for another season in Ottawa," RedBlacks general manager Marcel Desjardins said.
In 13 games for the RedBlacks last season, Gavins recorded 32 tackles and one forced fumble, just one season after being named a CFL East Division All-Star in 2015.
