Alouettes sign Ernest Jackson to 2-year deal

The Montreal Alouettes have won the CFL free agency sweepstakes, announcing Thursday the signing of wide receiver Ernest Jackson to a two-year contract.

Jackson spent the last two seasons in Ottawa, posting back-to-back 1,000-yard campaigns. He was the 2016 East Division nominee for the league's Most Outstanding Player award.

The fifth-year pro also caught the eventual game-winning touchdown in overtime of the 104th Grey Cup against Calgary, a contest he finished with six catches for 96 yards.

After entering the league in 2012 with the BC Lions, Jackson topped out at 813 yards and three touchdowns in 2014 before moving to Ottawa.

Joining the RedBlacks in 2015, Jackson caught 84 passes for 1,036 yards and five touchdowns, before leading the team in 2016 with 88 receptions for 1,225 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Jackson was named a 2016 CFL All-Star.
