Clattenburg extends Premier League tenure before Saudi Arabia move

Mark Clattenburg's Premier League switch isn't quite the hard exit it was made out to be, with ESPN FC reporting that the infamous referee is set to continue on in his current position despite taking on a role in Saudi Arabia.

Case in point: the oft-maligned official was named the match official for an upcoming tilt between West Brom and Bournemouth this weekend. He had previously overseen a match between Arsenal and Hull City, which was believed to be his final match in charge in the Premier League.

Clattenburg announced earlier in the week his intention to join the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, with the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) releasing a statement last Thursday confirming the move.

But the 41-year-old is set to extend a 12-year career in England before he departs for his new role, which was left vacant when Howard Webb made his own switch from Saudi Arabia to Major League Soccer.
