Manchester United is moving quickly to complete a world-record deal for coveted target Paul Pogba within the next 48 hours after submitting a bid worth £100 million in total (€110 million plus €10 million in add-ons) to Juventus, according to the Guardian's Fabrizio Romano and Mark Dobson.

United's currently negotiating Mino Raiola's £16.7-million (€20-million) cut - the last thing in the club's way before finalising the transfer. Not one to settle for any regular record fee, Juventus has also asked for United to pay around £4.2 million (€5 million) if Pogba ever extends his contract with the Red Devils.

The Frenchman is now waiting to receive clearance to conduct a medical, Romano and Dobson add. United is apparently confident it will get done this week.

ESPN FC's Miguel Delaney reported a couple of hours earlier that Real Madrid had made contact with Juventus in a last-ditch attempt to hijack United's move for Pogba.

However, all signs indicate that United is well ahead in pole position.

Pogba reportedly agreed to terms with the Premier League giant some time ago over a five-year contract worth £220,000 a week after taxes.

Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane kept his options open when asked of Pogba's situation on Wednesday.

"I don't know if he will come. Until Aug. 31, anything can happen," he told reporters. "Everyone is interested in Pogba. He is a great footballer and when you are Madrid you always want the best."

Unfortunately for Zidane, his pursuit may have ended before it even began in earnest.

Pogba is currently on vacation in the United States. He's scheduled to return to Juventus on August 7, but barring any surprises, it's unlikely to happen.
