Age is finally catching up to the footballer who never grew up.

While attending NBA All-Star weekend, Ronaldinho indicated his retirement as a player is approaching, saying he declined to put pen to paper on some offers and admitting to the possibility of a farewell game. The childlike genius last played for Fluminense in 2015, but the Guerreiros ripped up his contract after it became painfully clear he wasn't in good enough shape to make any type of impact.

"Undoubtedly, it is a new stage," Ronaldinho told TV Globo and SporTV.com. "Some invitations emerged to do three months at one club, six months at another. But it's still not what I want. I think it's a new stage. I still haven't defined whether I'll do farewell games, if I'm going to do three months somewhere to close, but I believe it's going to be a farewell game. It's not definitive yet, but I'll make a decision shortly. I'll be 37 years old next month, the age everyone reaches, thank God, so it's taking a new turn."

Coritiba's board of directors reportedly held a meeting and approved an offer for Ronaldinho in January. The proposal apparently included a mansion next to the club's training centre, security guards, and a fixed salary of R$ 300,000 per month. But, less than two weeks later, Barcelona announced it had reached an agreement making the Brazilian phenom a club ambassador.

Ronaldinho attended the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game along with Roberto, his brother and agent, on Friday night in New Orleans. He was joined by Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jordan Kilganon, and LeBron James.
