Neymar pledges allegiance to Barca amid United's reported interest

Manchester United may have to consider other targets this summer as the English club appears as though it will fall short on its reported plans to convince Neymar to leave Barcelona.

The Premier League side has reportedly identified the Brazilian as its top summer target, with Spanish outlet Sport revealing United is willing to "go all out" in an effort to secure Neymar's services.

Along with paying the €200-million release clause in Neymar's contract - which he signed last summer and runs until 2021 - United is also willing to almost double the Brazilian star's salary and make him the Premier League's highest paid player with an annual earnings of of €25 million.

But it may not be enough, as Neymar reaffirmed his allegiance to the Catalan team he's dreamed of representing since he was a boy in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

"My dream was to play at Barca. When I was a boy that was all I wanted," he said in an interview with El Mundo Deportivo, as translated by Adriana Garcia of ESPNFC.

"And the most important thing about playing for Barca is that I'm making my childhood dream come true."

Neymar, who joined Barcelona from Santos in 2013, added that he's confident teammate Lionel Messi will sign a new Barcelona contract despite some doubts that have emerged throughout the season regarding the Argentina international's future.

"Messi will renew because he is Barca and Barca is Messi,"
