Major League Baseball has committed to the MLB Draft League through the 2030 season, according to an announcement made Thursday.

The six-team league was founded in 2021 to provide players with exposure and development before and after the mid-season draft.

"In three short years, the MLB Draft League has done exactly what we had hoped, as it has provided players another chance to be evaluated by scouts from all MLB clubs both before and after the draft," MLB Draft League president Sean Campbell said.

"The league has also kept professional-caliber baseball in six terrific baseball cities, and we are most appreciative of the fans that come out to watch these players chase their dreams of playing in the major leagues."

The league plans to add two additional teams in the coming seasons. The Frederick Keys, Mahoning Valley Scrapers, State College Spikes, Trenton Thunder, West Virginia Black Bears, and Williamsport Crosscutters make up its current crop of clubs.

The MLB Draft League's 80-game season begins June 4.
