Tucker outclasses Sicilia for unanimous decision in UFC debut

Gavin Tucker let it all hang out in his UFC debut.

After regaling his fellow Maritimers with three rounds of tight footwork, blistering leg kicks, and a dash of swagger, Tucker was given the nod over fellow featherweight Sam Sicilia on all three scorecards at UFC Fight Night 105 in his adopted hometown of Halifax, Nova Scotia on Sunday.

The 30-year-old's pleas to make the promotion's last Halifax show in 2014 went unanswered, but he made good on his long-awaited opportunity, picking Sicilia apart from pillar to post to remain undefeated in 10 pro bouts.

Tucker contentedly worked from the outside while Sicilia stalked him in pursuit of a telling blow, hammering the veteran's left thigh with leg kick after leg kick.

The Newfoundland native's range control and fluid footwork befuddled Sicilia, who was visibly unaccustomed to countering and had just a handful of significant strikes to show for his lackluster efforts after two rounds. A desperate Sicilia found some success in Round 3, but the newcomer remained elusive and landed at will to secure the nod.

After being downright embarrassed in three straight contests, Sicilia may have seen the last of the Octagon. The lopsided decision brings his promotional record to a miserable 5-7.
