Report: Belfort retirement bout vs. Marquardt in works for UFC 212

Vitor Belfort is about to end his legendary career on his terms.

"The Phenom" is in talks to fight Nate Marquardt in a middleweight bout at UFC 212 in Rio de Janeiro on June 3, according to MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani, following a report from Brazil's Combate.

According to comments that Belfort made after a March loss to Kelvin Gastelum, he expects this next booking to be the last of his 20-year career.

Aside from wanting to have his final fight be in his home country, Belfort also requested that he be matched up against a non-Brazilian, and Marquardt fits that bill. The 38-year-old Wyoming-native has been fighting for almost as long as Belfort, but he's won just three of his past 10 contests.

Belfort is also in the middle of an ugly skid. Four of his past five fights have ended with him losing by TKO and he'll be hoping to go out on a high note as he enters his 40th professional bout.

UFC 212 is currently scheduled to be headlined by a featherweight title unification bout between undisputed champion Jose Aldo and interim champion Max Holloway.
