Report: Almeida-Volkov set for UFC 302
A heavyweight clash between Jailton Almeida and Alexander Volkov is slated for UFC 302 on June 1, a source told MMA Junkie's Simon Samano and Nolan King.
The fight is expected to be held at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Almeida (20-3) had his 15-win fight streak snapped when he suffered a second-round knockout loss to Curtis Blaydes at UFC 299 on March 9. The Brazilian fighter scored victories over some of the division's biggest names, such as Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Derrick Lewis.
Volkov (37-10) will step into the Octagon for the first time in 2024. He's riding a three-fight win streak, including a submission victory over Tai Tuivasa at UFC 293 last September.
Volkov and Almeida are the No. 6- and No. 7-ranked fighters in the heavyweight division, respectively.
