Dillashaw looking for superfight with McGregor
After conquering Renan Barao for a second time at UFC on FOX 16, bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw is already spying a superfight outside his division.
According to Dillashaw, interim featherweight champion Conor McGregor's semi-reign atop the 145-pound class is going to be brief, and, as such, Dillashaw is hoping to get a shot at the brash Irishman before the inevitable fall from grace.
"I don't think he's gonna last that long," Dillashaw told "Submission Radio," according to BloodyElbow.com's Karim Zidan. "I would like to do it now if I could, because I don't think he's going to last and be champion forever. He's definitely going to get beat. I think Mendes showed the holes in his game and I think people will take advantage of it. I think Chad Mendes beats him, I think Frankie Edgar beats him. You know, I don't know if he's going to beat Aldo after watching that."
Despite his eagerness to face McGregor (it's hard not to want in on that box-office clout), there are still plenty of tests left for Dillashaw at 135 pounds, including a potential bout with Dominick Cruz, a former champion who never truly lost his title.
"I came out of that fight unscathed and I'm ready to fight tomorrow. He's the one with the bum leg and has to heal up and get ready, so I think that's why he's talking all this crap," Dillashaw said of Cruz. "He can't actually even fight so the only way you're still going to work your way to a title shot is by talking, and that's the only shot. So as soon as he gets healthy, you know I gotta figure out when that's going to be because I mean I don't want to wait forever, and who knows if he can even get healthy.
"The guy's been injured more than he hasn't."
