The legacy will live on.
Jeffrey Earnhardt, NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt's grandson and nephew of Dale Earnhardt Jr., has secured his spot in the Circle Sport-TMG No. 33 car of the 2017 Daytona 500.
"This is really a dream come true," Earnhardt said, according to ESPN's Bob Pockrass. "We've been working every day for the past six years to get to the Daytona 500."
The 27-year-old has made 24 NASCAR Cup Series starts. His best finish came last October in Charlotte, when he checked in in 26th place.
He joins an organization formed in the offseason by Curtis Key and Joe Falk, who became partners.
The team doesn't yet have a sponsor, though crew chief Pat Tryson will lead the way in the pit.
