After this weekend's Coke Zero 400 ended with a frightening crash that sent Austin Dillon's car flying into the barrier at the finish line, NASCAR and Daytona International Speedway officials will conduct a thorough review of the incident.

"We'll work closely with NASCAR (with our review)," Daytona president Joie Chitwood said Monday, according to Bob Pockrass of ESPN. "We did this after the last incident (a 2013 Xfinity Series race). We're going to learn from it and see what else we can do to be better. I think you saw some of the improvements at work today, so what we can learn from that tomorrow and the next days, we're going to incorporate moving forward."

Dillon's car caused significant damage to the track's surrounding catch fence upon impact, and debris was sent into the grandstands as the vehicle was effectively torn apart.

Five spectators were treated by medics, with one being sent to hospital Monday before being released soon after.

Dillon's No. 3 car ended up on its roof before being struck again by Brad Keselowski's car. Despite the severity of the crash, and the condition his vehicle was left in as a result, Dillon managed to emerge without suffering any significant injuries.
