Nuggets eliminate controversial name for alternate uniform

Alternate "pride" uniforms are commonplace in the NBA, with the likes of the Washington Wizards, Orlando Magic, and Houston Rockets all having one.

The Denver Nuggets are also a part of that group, although their gear is making waves not for a unique design or eye-catching look, but for an unfortunate name choice which rubbed plenty of people the wrong way.

A schedule for when the jerseys would be worn during the upcoming 2016-17 regular season was released on Monday, with the sleeved unis featuring two pickaxes crossing in the middle listed under the name "White Pride."

The insensitive name has since been changed to "White Gold" on the team's official website, which is how they were originally listed when they first debuted in 2015.

The organization was not responsible for the name, though, as all slogans and titles came from Adidas, according to DenverStiffs.com's Daniel C. Lewis.

The uniforms will be worn on six occasions, with the first coming on Dec. 15 against the Portland Trail Blazers.
