Meeting basketball royalty in the form of six-time NBA champion and current Charlotte Hornets owner Michael Jordan had Isaiah Thomas of the Boston Celtics on cloud nine this All-Star weekend.

"Michael Jordan, I met Michael Jordan," Thomas said, according to the Boston Globe's Gary Washburn. "He said he's been watching. He said keep killing (but) take the night off when you play us, but keep doing your thing.

Happy birthday to the greatest of all time, thanks for the love OG!!!! #MJ

"That's crazy. I couldn't sleep (Friday) night when he said that."

The diminutive 5-foot-9 guard is consistently motivated by those who underestimate him, and he hasn't been short on motivation for most of his career after entering the league as the last pick in the 2011 draft. Having his strongest campaign to date in Beantown, Thomas said Jordan's praise will provide more fuel for him in the second half of the regular season.

"That was probably the biggest (deal) is to have Michael Jordan say that about me and that he's taking notice," Thomas added. "For sure (it motivates me), he's the greatest player ever. For him to say he's taking notice in what I'm doing first off lets me know I'm doing something somewhat right and second of all for him to say 'keep going,' that's what I am going to keep doing."

Thomas entered the All-Star break as the second-leading scorer in the Association with 29.9 points per game for the 37-20 Celtics, who sit three games back of the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers for the top seed in the Eastern Conference.
