LeBron James may finally be getting a playmaker.

Deron Williams has cleared waivers and will sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday, league sources told Shams Charania of The Vertical.

The veteran point guard was waived by the Dallas Mavericks after the team was unable to move him for picks ahead of Thursday's trade deadline.

The Cavaliers, Atlanta Hawks, and Utah Jazz all reportedly expressed interest in acquiring the 32-year-old, who's averaging 13.1 points and 6.9 assists in his 12th campaign.

James has been tasked with running Cleveland's offense all season, and is putting up a career-high 8.9 dimes per game. After he publicly voiced the club's need for another playmaker last month, the Cavaliers signed swingman Derrick Williams.

The defending champions lost their backup point guard Matthew Dellavedova in free agency last summer, and neglected to pick up a suitable replacement. James has indicated he wants a more proven player than rookie Kay Felder to come in off the bench, especially during the playoffs.
