Report: Larry Brown to meet with LIU Brooklyn

Pat Lovell-USA TODAY Sports

Hall of Fame coach Larry Brown is expected to meet with LIU Brooklyn to discuss the program's coaching vacancy, sources told Jon Rothstein of FanRag Sports.

The Blackbirds have reportedly already reached out to the 76-year-old, who last coached for four seasons at SMU. He resigned after the 2015-16 campaign as the program dealt with fallout from NCAA violations that took place under Brown's watch.

Brown hasn't been shy about his desire to get back into the game, going so far as to say he'd consider going overseas, coaching a high school team, or serving as an assistant to land another job.

LIU Brooklyn is coming off a 20-12 season under Jack Perri, but the school canned him following his fifth season in charge.

The Blackbirds have reached the NCAA tournament six times in the past, most recently in 2013 when they qualified for the First Four.

Brown has a 266-99 career coaching record at the collegiate rank, and is part of an exclusive group of coaches that have won championships at both the NCAA and NBA levels.
