Joe Paterno's family continues to defend the late Penn State coach from accusations that he hid his knowledge of Jerry Sandusky's child abuse for decades.

Court filings revealed Thursday included allegations that a child told Paterno in 1976 that Paterno's then-linebackers coach had molested him. Jay Paterno passionately defended his father in a lengthy Facebook post later that day.

Family attorney Wick Sollers vehemently denied the allegation Thursday, saying the claim from 40 years ago had "no corroborating evidence."

Sandusky is currently serving 30-to-60 years in prison after being convicted of serial sexual child abuse that took place between 1994 and 2009. He began coaching at Penn State in 1969, was named defensive coordinator in 1977, and held that position until his retirement in 1999.
