Baylor starting left tackle Dom Desouza has left the program and retired from football, the school confirmed Monday to Tony Adame of 247 Sports.

Desouza had one year of eligibility remaining after he came to the Bears as a junior college transfer before the 2015 campaign. He sat out that season, before emerging as a 13-game starter in 2016.

Desouza has obtained his degree from Baylor, meaning he could pursue a graduate transfer and play elsewhere in 2017 if he decides to undo his retirement.

Baylor is still in line to return three starters on the offensive line next season, but will have to find a new blindside protector for projected starter and Arizona transfer Anu Solomon.
