John Harbaugh: 'The Harbaughs believe in Brady Hoke'

Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

The man who was rumored to be in the running for Brady Hoke's job is publicly defending him.

Both Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh and his brother Jim Harbaugh, who coaches the San Francisco 49ers, were linked to the Michigan head coaching position, provided that something happen to Hoke.

John Harbaugh squashed any chances of that Monday.

The Ravens coach also made it clear that both brothers support Hoke, a family friend since Hoke was an assistant for their father Jack at Western Michigan in the 1980s.

"Brady Hoke is a guy that we all believe in," said the Ravens coach. "He's a great coach. He believes in Michigan. I believe in what they're doing there. I think they're going to get it turned around."

He said the experience should "galvanize" the Wolverines, and that "they should be like lions."

Harbaugh went to high school at Ann Arbor's Pioneer High School.

"I'm interested in Brady Hoke being the coach at Michigan for a long time coming," he added.
