Saints' Brees offers support to LSU's Cameron

When LSU offensive coordinator Cam Cameron revealed he had undergone treatment for prostate cancer last week, he received some words of encouragement from a notable former player.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, who played for Cameron for four seasons while he was the offensive coordinator of the San Diego Chargers, texted his former coach to offer support.

"He's a guy who's had a tremendous impact on my career," Bress told Christopher Dabe of NOLA.COM. "There's still things he said to me during those years that ring inside my mind at different times. Different coaching points, or just different lessons learned through being in different situations with him."

Brees reflected on the impact Cameron had during a very important time in the pivot's career.

"There was a real kind of growth process at that time in my career," Brees said. "I was benched three times during that timeframe. You go through some of those tough times and you really grow as a person or a player."

Cameron has said his health is good and he plans to coach in 2015.
