Penn State scores 10 in 1st-ever tournament game

Penn State humiliated Union in its first-ever NCAA tournament game, scoring a school-record 10 times in Saturday's second Midwest Regional semifinal.

Penn State's prolific output is the highest-scoring NCAA debut in 61 years. It's also the first time in 27 years that a school scored 10 goals in a single game at the tournament.

The Nittany Lions had eight different goal-scorers, with Nate Sucese and Chase Berger providing the multi-goal contributions.

Penn State will meet the tournament's No. 1 overall seed, the University of Denver, on Sunday with a chance to move on to the Frozen Four.

Elsewhere, Boston Bruins prospect Anders Bjork scored twice for Notre Dame, which held on to defeat the No. 4-seeded Golden Gophers on the strength of three unanswered goals.

The Irish meet UMass-Lowell - the club that defeated them in the Hockey East semifinal - in the Northeast regional final.
