Kings ink Matt Roy to entry-level deal

The Los Angeles Kings have signed defenseman Matt Roy to a two-year, entry-level contract, the team announced on Monday.

The 22-year-old was a seventh-round pick by the Kings during the 2015 draft. He is coming off his third season with Michigan Tech where he set career highs with 21 assists and 26 points in 42 games.

Roy and his Michigan Tech teammates were unfortunately bested in this weekend's NCAA tournament by the top-ranked Denver Pioneers. He will now report to the Kings' American Hockey League affiliate, the Ontario Reign, for the remainder of the season.
