Raiders GM: Derek Carr will be ready for offseason activities

Healing from a broken leg suffered in late December, Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr will be ready for his team's offseason activities, general manager Reggie McKenzie said Monday to ESPN's Paul Gutierrez.

The Raiders can begin team workouts April 17 and are scheduled to begin OTAs in May before June's veteran mini-camp.

Offensive tackle Donald Penn said in late February that Carr was close to 100 percent. Carr was reportedly holding out hope in early January that he could return in time for the Super Bowl, on the off chance the Raiders made it that far.

Carr has shown dedication to his team and his recovery this offseason, reportedly spending a lot of time at the team facility getting healthy and helping to recruit potential free agents.

The 25-year-old was having a career season before breaking his fibula in Week 16. Carr passed for 3,937 yards with 28 touchdowns and six interceptions through 15 games in 2016.
