Lynch will wear No. 24 for Raiders with Woodson's approval

Marshawn Lynch got the OK from an Oakland Raiders great before securing his No. 24 jersey for the upcoming season.

Charles Woodson, who retired at the end of the 2015 season, wore No. 24 during his 11 years with the Raiders. He gave Lynch his blessing to wear the number, Lynch's mother, Delisa, said on 95.7 The Game, according to Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

After Woodson won the Heisman Trophy in 1997, the Raiders selected him fourth overall out of Michigan in the 1998 draft. He played for the Green Bay Packers from 2006-12 before returning to Oakland for his final three seasons.

Lynch was traded to the Raiders on Wednesday from the Seattle Seahawks after making it clear he only wanted to play for his hometown organization. The 31-year-old reportedly signed a two-year contract worth a maximum of $16.5 million.
