Report: Bears' Fox learned of plan to draft Trubisky hours before pick

Kirby Lee / USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Bears shocked the collective football world, and apparently their own head coach, with their draft-day trade that led to the selection of quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.

General manager Ryan Pace didn't inform head coach John Fox of the team's first-round target until hours before the pick was made, according to Chris Mortensen of ESPN.

Considering the Bears were willing to give up three additional draft picks in order to move up one slot to draft Trubisky, it should come as no surprise that the team's brass wanted to keep their target close to the vest. One would think Fox would be included in that group, however.
