Report: Michigan offers Jim Harbaugh 6-year, $48M contract

The University of Michigan has offered San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh a six-year, $48-million contract to become the university's next football coach, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport

Harbaugh has been widely rumored to be leaving the 49ers at the end of the season. San Francisco will miss the playoffs this year for the first time in four seasons.

Rapoport reported on Dec. 7 that Michigan had contacted Harbaugh about its head coaching vacancy.

"Jim Harbaugh has not yet told Michigan a definitive no," Rapoport said on NFL Network on Wednesday.

Michigan fired coach Brady Hoke on Dec. 2.
