Ray McDonald arrested again after violating terms of restraining order

Free agent defensive end Ray McDonald has been arrested for the second time in three days after violating his restraining order.

McDonald was arrested at 5:35 p.m. PT after showing up at a residence in Santa Clara, Calif. that he was barred from going to. According to the police report, he was then spotted at a nearby Togo's Sandwiches where he was taken into custody.

The restraining order was put in place after a domestic violence incident occurred on May 25. It was the second domestic violence incident that McDonald has been arrested for since August 2014.

McDonald's attorney Steve Defilippis said his client was not served with the restraining order.

"When Ray McDonald was released from jail he was not served with a restraining order. They say there is a restraining order now, but they never served him with it."

After signing a one-year contract with the Chicago Bears in the offseason, McDonald was released by the team on Monday following his arrest.

"We believe in second chances, but when we signed Ray we were very clear what our expectations were if he was to remain a Bear," general manager Ryan Pace said Monday. "He was not able to meet the standard and the decision was made to release him."

In addition to this restraining order violation and his two domestic violence arrests, McDonald was accused of groping a woman while she was passed out in December.
