Dustin Johnson lapped the field at Riviera Country Club to win the Genesis Open and claim the world No. 1 ranking for the first time in his career.

Johnson shot 64-71 over 36 holes Sunday to win by five shots over Thomas Pieters and Scott Brown. Pieters jumped 23 spots in the final round, firing a bogey-free 63.

The win was the reigning U.S. Open champion's 15th career Tour victory.

By becoming the new No. 1, Johnson makes it an even 20 players to claim top spot on the Tour since the rankings first started in 1986, moving past Jason Day who had held the position for 47 consecutive weeks and 51 overall.

No one has come close to matching Tiger Woods' 683 total weeks at No. 1, as Greg Norman is second with 331 weeks.
