Roberto Mancini, yet to accept a job after his departure from Internazionale, is among the candidates to be South Africa's next manager.

Mancini and Giovanni Trapattoni highlighted a list of applicants for South Africa's managerial vacancy Thursday. Hassan Shehata, Hugo Broos, Samson Siasia, Lothar Matthaus, and Bernd Schuster were also listed as interviewees.

The list was published the same day the South African Football Association announced Lucas Radebe and Benni McCarthy, two of the greatest players in Bafana Bafana's rich history, will comprise the committee to look for and appoint the national team's new manager.

Dr. Danny Jordaan, SAFA's president, explained the procedure, saying: "We want to have the process expedited as Bafana Bafana have a bumper 2017 season in which they need to compete and qualify on three fronts - namely CHAN, AFCON, and the FIFA World Cup in Russia 2018."

In addition to Mancini and Trapattoni, who last managed Ireland and took the Boys in Green to Euro 2012, the list of applicants also includes Broos, Cameroon's manager. After eight players refused a call-up to the Indomitable Lions' squad for this year's Africa Cup of Nations, the Belgian tactician guided them to a fifth continental conquest. Nobody had given them a chance.

According to Agence France-Presse, Broos wants a new challenge, despite Cameroon being in the running for a place at the 2018 World Cup.
