Chapecoense president Plinio David de Nes Filho says Catalan giant Barcelona is the only club to extend financial assistance to the Brazilian side ravaged by disaster.

After 19 senior team players and staff members were among 71 people who perished in November's plane crash, Chapecoense had to rebuild, and the posthumously-awarded Copa Sudamericana champ needed help.

"Barcelona was the first team that showed solidarity with us, and for now, it's the only team that's helped us financially, sending us €250,000," Filho told Spain's Cadena Ser, courtesy of ESPN FC.

In addition to offering financial aid, Barcelona also invited the Brazilian minnow to play in the Joan Gamper Trophy this coming summer.

Assistance from other groups has come in various ways.

The football federations of Brazil and Colombia also played a friendly at the end of January to help victims of the crash, and clubs from Brazil's Serie A have loaned players to the southern Brazil side left shorthanded at the start of the campaign.
