Oklahoma City Thunder bench boss Mark Daigneault was named 2023-24 NBA Coach of the Year on Sunday.

Daigneault earned the annual award over fellow finalists Chris Finch of the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Orlando Magic's Jamahl Mosley.

"Mark's industriousness, curiosity, and consistent approach to improving his craft have defined his tenure with the Blue and now with the Thunder," Oklahoma's general manager Sam Presti said in a statement.

Daigneault, 39, led the Thunder to a 57-25 record and the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference. It was just the second time the team nabbed top spot since moving to Oklahoma City from Seattle in 2008.

He becomes the second Thunder coach to receive the award, joining Scott Brooks (2009-10).

Daigneault replaced Billy Donovan ahead of the 2020-21 campaign following a spell as an assistant with Oklahoma and a five-season tenure as the head coach of the club's G-League affiliate. He has led a young Thunder squad to a 143-175 record across four seasons.
