Roger Federer's quest for a record-extending 21st Grand Slam title endures.

The five-time US Open champ is off to the quarterfinals of the calendar year's last major tournament after dominating 15th seed David Goffin 6-2, 6-2, 6-0 on Sunday at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Federer went down a break in the opening set before winning six games on the spin. He would go on to win nine of 10 break points and register 34 winners to Goffin's eight in a match that lasted a hair under 80 minutes.

That's now 56 Grand Slam quarterfinals for Federer and 13 at Flushing Meadows, as the 38-year-old finds his form following a sluggish start at the US Open.

Opening set losses in each of his first two matches sparked concerns that Federer was not at his best, something the Swiss legend did well to dispel in a dominant 6-2, 6-2, 6-1 win over Dan Evans in the third round.

Federer, who arrived in New York ranked third in the world, will be well-rested ahead of a meeting with the unseeded Grigor Dimitrov.
