A boxing bout between former UFC stars Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal is in the works and would take place later in 2024, sources told MMA reporter Ariel Helwani.

The fight would mark a rematch of sorts, as the two fan favorites went head-to-head and headlined a pay-per-view together in the UFC in 2019. Masvidal emerged from that battle as the victor, forcing a doctor's stoppage after the third round.

Diaz competed in his first professional boxing match in 2023, losing a decision to Jake Paul. The 38-year-old ascended to superstardom in the UFC by defeating Conor McGregor in 2016. He left the UFC at the end of 2022 after fighting out his contract.

Masvidal, known in the UFC for his striking, announced his retirement from mixed martial arts last year after losing his fourth straight fight. He recently sparked speculation about a return to combat sports via social media.

Masvidal, 39, has one professional boxing match under his belt, though it came in 2005, long before he debuted in the UFC.

Combined, Diaz and Masvidal headlined eight UFC pay-per-view events, including the one against each other.
