Redblacks clinch playoff spot with 4th-quarter comeback over Riders
Trevor Harris guided the Redblacks to an improbable 33-32 comeback win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders Friday, as Ottawa erased a 12-point deficit with just over six minutes remaining to seal its third-straight playoff appearance.
Ryan Lindley ran in a one-yard score with just two seconds remaining to secure the victory after Harris engineered two drives, sending the Redblacks into first place in the East Division with a 7-9-1 record. The Riders, meanwhile, dropped to 8-7 despite a career-high 231 receiving yards on 11 receptions from Duron Carter.
"It hurts and there is a lot of stuff going through everybody's mind right now,’" Riders quarterback Kevin Glenn said, according to Murray McCormick of the Regina Leader-Post. "We just have to stay together as a team and we have to try to pull some good from this. When I say good, I mean learn from it to where we think back on this and if we're in this situation again, we can overcome it."
Saskatchewan - who hasn't made the playoffs since 2014 - play the Calgary Stampeders next week, while Ottawa has a bye to rest up in preparation for the postseason.
