Hamilton Tiger-Cats running back Sean Thomas Erlington underwent knee surgery and will miss more than six weeks of action, according to TSN's Farhan Lalji.

While no timetable has been set for a return, the runner reportedly hopes to be back before the end of the season.

Thomas Erlington was injured in the first quarter of Hamilton's Week 4 game against the Montreal Alouettes after absorbing a low hit. However, he avoided a serious ACL injury, according to Lalji.

The 26-year-old has accumulated 224 rushing yards on 33 carries in 2019. He also ranks second in the CFL with 6.8 yards per touch among running backs with at least 10 carries.

The East-leading Tiger-Cats will likely lean on veteran Anthony Coombs and rookie Maleek Irons in Thomas Erlington's absence.
