Following Tuesday's slate of group stage finales, 12 of the 16 Champions League knockout stage spots have been secured.

Atletico Madrid faltered, Chelsea surrendered its group, and Paris Saint-Germain topped its quartet for the first time in four attempts despite a 3-1 defeat at Bayern Munich.

Here's a baker's dozen of noteworthy numbers from Tuesday's slate of matches.

0: Benfica registered zero points in the group stage, the worst output for a Portuguese club in the tournament's history.

2: PSG suffered its second consecutive loss in all competitions after a 2-1 weekend defeat to Strasbourg. The club was unbeaten in its previous 25 matches.

3: Bayern Munich's Corentin Tolisso became the third Frenchman to score two or more goals against a French opponent, joining Thierry Henry and Karim Benzema.

7: The last time Atletico Madrid failed to reach the last 16 was in 2009-10, a stretch of seven consecutive seasons in the knockout stage that ended Tuesday. Atleti went on to win the Europa League that year.

8: Juventus boss Max Allegri has now been to the last 16 eight times (first four with AC Milan) on the bounce, second only to Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger's 14.

10: Kylian Mbappe became the youngest player to register 10 Champions League goals (at 18 years, 11 months, and 15 days old), nearly two years younger than Benzema was (20 years, 10 months, and two days old) when he reached the standard with Lyon.

17: Manchester United has now progressed beyond the group stage for the 17th time, equalling Arsenal for fourth-most all time behind Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona.

22: Bayern set a competition record with the opening goal in a 22nd consecutive home Champions League fixture.

25: Paris Saint-Germain bettered its group stage goals record with Mbappe's header in the 3-1 defeat to Bayern Munich, giving the capital club 25 tallies.

40: United's come-from-behind 2-1 victory over CSKA Moscow equalled a club-record, 40-match home unbeaten streak in all competitions.

121: Lionel Messi marked his 121st Champions League appearance against Sporting, passing Brazilian Roberto Carlos for the most appearances by a South American player.

219: Luke Shaw's last start for the Red Devils was 219 days prior to his spot in the starting XI Tuesday.

390: Saul Niguez's goal for Atleti ended a 390-minute streak of failing to score away from home in the Champions League that dated back to last April versus Leicester City.
