It appears only a matter of time before Matthijs de Ligt joins Juventus, as the Italian side and Ajax reached an agreement over a transfer, The Guardian's Fabrizio Romano reports.

It was reported in late June that De Ligt accepted a five-year contract worth €12 million per season to join Juventus before negotiations began between the two clubs.

It's understood that the defender will arrive in Italy in the coming days.

Previous reports indicate that Ajax set the price tag at €75 million - the same amount that Paris Saint-Germain offered during their short-lived pursuit of the 19-year-old.

PSG were reportedly considered the front-runners to sign De Ligt until the Dutch international was enticed by the gargantuan contract offered by Juventus.

Once the reported transfer is complete, De Ligt will compete for minutes with veterans Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci as the Bianconeri attempt to win their ninth consecutive Serie A title.
