The Mauro Icardi saga finally seems to be nearing its end.

Paris Saint-Germain are set to sign the Inter Milan outcast on loan with a €70-million option to buy, sources told Jonathan Johnson of ESPN.

Icardi, 26, is expected to arrive in the French capital later on Monday to undergo a medical and sign his contract with the reigning Ligue 1 champions.

Inter have been desperate to offload their former captain all summer. New manager Antonio Conte and CEO Beppe Marotta reiterated multiple times that Icardi wasn't in their plans moving forward, freezing him out of the squad to open the campaign.

Despite the Argentine having scored 111 goals in 188 Serie A appearances for the club, the relationship soured quickly, culminating in Icardi suing Inter last week in a bid to be reinstated into the squad.

The polarizing striker was also linked with a move to Juventus, Napoli, and, most recently, Atletico Madrid during the transfer window.

But it seems as though PSG, who are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements in the wake of injuries to Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani, have won the race for his signature.

With Neymar also suspended for the Parisians' opening three Champions League matches, which includes a tilt with Real Madrid, Icardi should play a role in Europe's premier club competition as well this season.
