Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and Lyon are each loaded with attacking firepower, but none of the four star-studded sides could craft a goal in their respective Champions League contests on Tuesday.

A frenetic affair at Anfield saw Bayern hold on for a goalless draw against the Reds, while in France, Lyon and Barca went toe-to-toe before settling for a 0-0 result of their own.

Liverpool carried the bulk of the play in their match, outshooting the Bavarians 15-9, but wayward finishing and an inability to connect on the final pass thwarted Jurgen Klopp's side; the Premier League title hopefuls only mustered two shots on target from their 15 total attempts.

Barcelona, meanwhile, were even more wasteful.

Lionel Messi and Co. fired 25 shots at Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes, but only forced the netminder into action five times.

The four sides will now look ahead to their second-leg ties, with matches on March 13 at the Allianz Arena and Camp Nou, respectively, determining who advances to the quarterfinals of Europe's premier club competition.
