Chelsea rejected Bayern Munich's bid to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi on loan, according to The Guardian's Jacob Steinberg.

The German champions approached Chelsea with a loan deal that included an option to buy the 19-year-old winger for £70 million next summer.

But, as Steinberg reports, the Blues will only consider an offer with an obligation to make the move permanent after the 2020-21 campaign.

With the transfer window set to close Monday, Bayern Munich are expected to table another offer for the England international, according to Tom Hamilton and James Olley of ESPN FC.

Despite signing a long-term contract last year, it could be time for a change of scenery for Hudson-Odoi now that the competition for playing time is fiercer with the arrivals of Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech, and Timo Werner.

Hudson-Odoi got his first Premier League start of the season in Chelsea's 4-0 win over Crystal Palace, but manager Frank Lampard suggested the winger's future at Stamford Bridge is a topic of conversation heading into the transfer deadline.

"There is no definitive answer," Lampard said. "By Monday we will know the answer.

"They might have declared their interest, which is one thing, but as I have just said there in terms of the squad, everything that happens by Monday will be things that are firstly good for us as a club because Callum is our player, and what Callum wants comes into consideration."

Bayern Munich were previously linked with Hudson-Odoi last summer before he signed a five-year contract extension at Chelsea in September 2019. He said a conversation with Lampard convinced him to stay.

After Chelsea rejected Bayern's £35-million bid for Hudson-Odoi in January 2019, the Bavarians failed to land him several months later with a lower offer worth £22.5-million.
