Berlin, May 14, 2022 (AFP) - Adi Hutter quit as Borussia Monchengladbach coach on the last day of the Bundesliga season Saturday, while Markus Weinzierl also confirmed he will leave Augsburg.

"We have agreed on this by mutual consent," Hutter told Sky after Gladbach's 5-1 win over Hoffenheim.

The Austrian walks away after just a single season at Monchengladbach, who finish the season 10th in Germany's top flight, seven points from the European places.

Under Hutter, 52, Gladbach's best result this season was a stunning 5-0 thrashing of Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich in the second round of the German Cup last October.

Like Gladbach, Augsburg are also looking for a new head coach next season after Weinzierl confirmed he will not extend his contract, which is about to expire.

"That was my last game. I will not have more talks with Augsburg. A lot has happened, I want to draw a line for myself," Weinzierl, 47, told Sky after a 2-1 win against relegated Greuther Furth.

Augsburg finished the season 14th, having only escaped the relegation battle in recent weeks.

Weinzierl, who took charge in April 2021 and kept Augsburg up last season, hinted at a break down in his relationship with team manager Stefan Reuter.

"The basis is missing," Weinzierl said.
