City Football Group unveiled third-tier Chinese outfit Sichuan Jiuniu as the seventh club in its portfolio on Wednesday.

The club has been brought under the umbrella of City Football Group after a business collaboration between the owners of Manchester City and New York City FC, humanoid robotics manufacturer UBTECH, and China Sports Capital.

"The move marks a natural development of the three new owners' commitment to participating in the long-term development of football in China," reads City Football Group's statement.

It continues: "City Football Group's presence in China includes offices in Shanghai and Shenzhen, several commercial partnerships, community projects and a strong record of football education, with City coaches operating in schools in cities around China as part of a Chinese Ministry of Education program."

Sichuan Jiuniu hail from Chengdu and compete in China League Two. Despite their lowly standing, the team boasts a stadium with a capacity of 27,000. The new Chinese season kicks off next month.

In addition to Manchester City and New York City FC, City Football Group owns Australia's Melbourne City and Uruguay's Club Atletico Torque, and it also holds significant stakes in La Liga's Girona and Yokohama F. Marinos of Japan's J1 League.
