Ole Gunnar Solskjaer suffered the first domestic defeat of his Manchester United tenure on Sunday, slumping to a scrappy 2-0 reverse at Arsenal.

Granit Xhaka struck an awkward long-range effort that wrong-footed David De Gea after 12 minutes. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang doubled the Gunners' lead in the second half from the penalty spot following a dubious decision by referee Jon Moss.

The result vaulted Arsenal above Manchester United and into fourth place, just one point behind archrivals Tottenham Hotspur for third. Unai Emery's side has amassed 41 points at home this season - the same amount as Liverpool - and hasn't lost a league outing at the Emirates Stadium since the opening day against Manchester City.

"Tottenham Hotspur, we're coming for you," Arsenal fans chanted during Sunday's victory, according to The Times' Henry Winter.

The Gunners won't face another top-six team for the remainder of the Premier League campaign.
