West Ham have reportedly shifted their attention to Eintracht Frankfurt striker Sebastien Haller after missing out on Celta Vigo's Maxi Gomez.

Gomez appears close to a Valencia switch, forcing the Hammers to kick off discussions with Eintracht regarding a potential £40-million move for the 25-year-old Haller, according to The Guardian's Jacob Steinberg.

Manuel Pellegrini is looking to add a forward to the West Ham ranks following Marko Arnautovic's £22.4-million move to Shanghai SIPG. Andy Carroll was also released and Lucas Perez was shipped to Alaves, further weakening the Hammers' attacking ranks.

Javier Hernandez and Jordan Hugill are the only senior forwards on the current roster ahead of Pellegrini's second year in charge at London Stadium.

Haller, who has also been linked with a move to Manchester United amid reports of Romelu Lukaku's impending exit, had a breakthrough 2018-19 Bundesliga campaign with Die Adler. The Frenchman bagged 14 league goals as part of a lethal front-three with Real Madrid-bound Luka Jovic and Ante Rebic.
