Despite rumors suggesting Jose Mourinho is set to take the reins at Arsenal, the out-of-work manager and Gunners chief Raul Sanllehi have not met recently, according to the Evening Standard's James Olley.

Mourinho was spotted at Arsenal's Europa League match last week at the Emirates Stadium. His sighting sparked rumors that he and Sanllehi had dinner to discuss Mourinho potentially replacing manager Unai Emery amid the club's poor run of form.

But Sanllehi and Mourinho haven't spoken for years, according to Olley.

Mourinho, who hasn't managed since being dismissed by Manchester United in December, is seen as a polarizing figure at the Emirates following several run-ins with former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger while in charge of Chelsea and United.

Arsenal have won just two of nine in the league and six of their last 18, dating back to last season.

Fans have begun to lose patience with Emery, as Mesut Ozil's exile, Granit Xhaka's captaincy, and an unappealing tactical approach are among the reasons the former Paris Saint-Germain gaffer is on thin ice in north London.
