FA Cup 5th-round draw: Chelsea may get Liverpool, Rooney could face United

There could be some juicy matchups on the horizon in the FA Cup after the next phase of matches were revealed during Monday's fifth-round draw.

If Liverpool can get past Shrewsbury Town in their replay against the League 1 side, Jurgen Klopp's men will travel south to take on Chelsea in their bid to win the tournament for the first time since 2006.

The round of 16 could also feature Wayne Rooney going up against his former club, Manchester United, if Derby County manage to win their replay versus Northampton next week.

Holders Manchester City face a tricky test when they visit Hillsborough Stadium to face Sheffield Wednesday, while the winner of Monday's contest between Arsenal and Bournemouth will visit Portsmouth in the next phase of the tournament.

  • Chelsea vs. Shrewsbury or Liverpool
  • Sheffield Wednesday vs. Manchester City
  • Reading or Cardiff vs. Sheffield United
  • Northampton or Derby County vs. Manchester United
  • Southampton or Tottenham vs. Norwich City
  • West Brom vs. Newcastle or Oxford United
  • Portsmouth vs. Arsenal
  • Leicester vs. Coventry or Birmingham

The matches are scheduled to take place March 3-5.
