Months after playing in the Champions League final, Danny Rose will suit up for Steve Bruce.

Newcastle United confirmed the full-back is moving to St. James' Park on loan from Tottenham Hotspur until the end of the season.

"It's a great honor for me to be here. I'm so grateful that the manager has brought me in and I’m looking to repay him in every way I can as soon as I'm playing," Rose offered.

"For me, it’s really exciting that I can come here and have the chance to play in front of the Newcastle fans."

In that sense, Bruce may afford Rose an opportunity he didn't receive in Tottenham under Jose Mourinho, who opted instead for a combination of Ben Davies, Ryan Sessegnon, and Japhet Tanganga.

Rose, 29, first joined Spurs in 2007 from Leeds United and has made 156 league appearances for the north London lot. The 29-time capped England international was named to the PFA Team of the Year in both 2015-16 and 2016-17.

Presumably, Rose will fill in for left-back Jetro Willems, who tore a cruciate ligament in his knee against Chelsea on Jan. 18. Scottish winger Matt Ritchie has deputized for Willems.

"It's been clear that we’ve needed some help in the left-back position, so we’re absolutely delighted to get a player of Danny’s caliber through the door," Bruce said Thursday.
