Tottenham Hotspur is interested in making a move for Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger, according to ESPN FC's James Olley.

However, although Chelsea are willing to allow Rudiger to leave Stamford Bridge before the transfer window closes Monday, the Blues prefer to complete a deal with a foreign club, Olley adds.

The 27-year-old has been linked to Paris Saint-Germain. While PSG prefer to sign Rudiger on a season-long loan, Chelsea favor a permanent deal and have placed a price tag of around £20 million on the German international.

Spurs are reportedly monitoring the situation and could launch a bid to sign Rudiger if they fail to acquire their top target, Inter Milan center-back Milan Skriniar. The Italian club has been reluctant to lower its €60-million valuation of Skriniar.

Rudiger has not featured for Chelsea this season and was left off the team sheet for Tuesday's League Cup tie with Tottenham.

He recently held talks with manager Frank Lampard about his future at the club.

Chelsea reportedly aren't forcing Rudiger to leave, but it's understood the west London side is trying to raise funds after splurging £220 million on new signings last summer.

Rudiger joined the Blues from Roma for £29 million in 2017.
